NFL Power Rankings after week 7

Power Rankings

Last week seems so long ago. That is probably because it was a full seven days ago. The only thing I remember is that I went 5-8 on my picks, worst than the 6-7 last week. Why is that? More teams either over or under achieving, depending on how you look at it.

Here is the new rankings after last week’s games.

1. Chicago Bears – (6-0, Last Week: 1) Didn’t win, but didn’t lose. They are the best until something drastic happens.

2. Denver Broncos – (5-1, Last Week: 2) They gave up a touchdown to Cleveland? I guess miracles do happen now and then.

3. Indianapolis Colts – (6-0, Last Week: 3) Giving up 22 points to the Redskins probably did not make Tony Dungy all that happy.

4. New England Patriots – (5-1, Last Week: 5) The team dominates their division, just ask Buffalo.

5. Cincinnati Bengals – (4-2, Last Week: 8) They were the first to defeat the Panthers when they had Steve Smith. That says something. What exactly I am not sure of yet.

6. San Diego Chargers – (4-2, Last Week: 4) Losing to the Chiefs was a bit of a shocker, but they are still one of the best teams in the league.

7. New Orleans Saints – (5-1, Last week: 10) I have jumped on the Saints band wagon. Look, I move them on a bye week.

8. Carolina Panthers – (4-3, Last Week: 7) Losing to the Bengals is nothing to be ashamed of, but their record has to improve if they want to make the playoffs.

9. Minnesota Vikings – (4-2, Last Week: 14) Chester Taylor ran all over the Seahawks. Can he do the same against New England?

10. Seattle Seahawks – (4-2, Last Week: 6) Seneca Wallace and Maurice Morris instead of Matt Hasselback and Shaun Alexander. Win this those replacements and you have a well coached team.

11. New York Giants – (4-2, Last Week: 17) They made Drew Bledsoe eat dirt and Tony Romo be weary of throwing the ball. Not a bad day at all.

12. Baltimore Ravens – (4-2, Last Week: 11) Is this team ready for New Orleans? I still cannot believe I am saying that.

13. Jacksonville Jaguars – (3-3, Last Week: 9) They did not lose to Houston, they were humiliated by Houston. They better play better against the Eagles.

14. St. Louis Rams – (4-2, Last Week: 12) They need to bounce back after the top loss to Seattle two weeks ago. Problem is they are facing a San Diego team coming off a tough loss to the Chiefs. Should be interesting.

15. Atlanta Falcons – (4-2, Last Week: 18) In terms of excitement, the Falcons and the Steelers provided the game of the week. If they can do it again against the Bengals they will show some much needed consistently.

16. New York Jets – (4-3, Last Week: 19) This team wants to be good, and maybe they are. They have an easy win against Cleveland, they had better take it.

17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – (2-4, Last Week: 22) 62-yard field goal for the win. Wow.

18. Philadelphia Eagles – (4-3, Last Week: 13) 62-yard field goal for the loss. Wow.

19. Dallas Cowboys – (3-3, Last Week: 15) Tony Romo in his first career NFL start. Who is waiting to initiate him into the league? Oh yeah, Julius Peppers. Run, Romo, run.

20. Kansas City Chiefs – (3-3, Last Week: 23) One of the other game winning field goals from last week. This team might be able to recover their slow start.

21. Pittsburgh Steelers – (2-4, Last Week: 16) On the wrong side of the best game from last week.

22. Green Bay Packers – (2-4, Last Week: 24) Brett Favre is trying real hard to make this a respectable season for the Packer fans.

23. Tennessee Titans – (1-5, Last Week: 20) I am fans are looking forward to their big match up with Houston this week.

24. Houston Texans – (2-4, Last Week: 28) Jacksonville took this team for granted. Bad move.

25. Detroit Lions – (1-6, Last Week: 21) Another close loss for the woeful Lions. And now Detroit fans are without the Tigers to ease their pain.

26. Cleveland Browns – (1-5, Last Week: 25) Only the second team all season to score a touchdown against the Broncos. That is something to be proud of. Not as nice as a win, but it is the little victories that count.

27. San Francisco 49ers – (2-4, Last Week: 27) Two weeks to prepare for Chicago is not enough time.

28. Buffalo Bills – (2-5, Last Week: 26) I guess they forgot about the winning part of the pattern from earlier in the season.

29. Oakland Raiders – (1-5, Last Week: 32) They caught the Cardinals off guard, and landed the knock out punch.

30. Miami Dolphins – (1-6, Last Week: 29) Sad.

31. Washington Redskins – (2-4, Last Week: 30) Even sadder.

32. Arizona Cardinals – (1-5, Last Week: 31) I said it last week, I will say it again. Oh my god. Just hand them the number one pick now.

ESPN Power Rankings as always. Okay, I’ll admit it. Mike Golic kicks butt right now.
